Last year In His Wakes celebrated the milestone of one decade of reaching people with the life changing power of Jesus Christ through water sports. It was my 6th season! I am sure when Kristi started IHW she had no idea what it would look like 10 years later; or, even if it would still be in existence. As was the case for me 6 years prior when making a commitment to join the team. I had no way of predicting how things would turn out. We both took that first step of faith into the unknown and trusted the Lord to guide each individual step thereafter, and he did!
Although, we seek the Lord’s direction for each of those steps we are careful to closely evaluated the direction, purpose, and impact of this ministry. The two most critical evaluation periods for me take place at the end and beginning of each season. With the start of this 11th season closing in quickly, I am once again analyzing each area of In His Wakes with a great deal of prayer. Are we in line with God’s intended plan and purpose? Are our eyes set on Jesus so we can walk on this water?
Recently, the Lord prompted me to look back at some quotes I had from last season that I had forgotten were even saved in my document files. I came across them while in the process of transferring all information over to a new laptop computer.
Here is a sampling of many:
“…For once I was able to forget about all the life issues I have to deal with…It really help me build my confidence in myself and in God.” Brandie H.
“Your compassion overwhelmed me and allowed me to face and overcome my fears. That day, along with the message of Christ ( our Power source) will be forever placed in my heart. I don’t look to the past but to the future. Thank you for not letting me give into “ I can!” Jaime S.
“Thank you for helping me face my fears. I learned so many valuable lessons in my relationship with God. I also learned to put my trust in God by keeping connected to the only Power Source that can successfully lead my life.” Joy
“I had a great fear of the water because I don’t know how to swim. God really spoke to me when I knee boarded, I thought I had it but I let fear creep in and down I went. You all constantly encouraged me and I didn’t give up. The Lord showed me a lot about Him as my Power source.” Carla B.
I remember my purpose for saving these quotes was to have a constant reminder for myself and others as to how the Lord has used such a simple concepts of taking kids on the water, showing love, and building trust to make such an impact on so many. Words like these offer a great deal of confirmation and reassurance we must be doing something right and the Lord is using it transforming lives.
We are moving into this new season with another one of those individual steps of faith that started 11 years ago. Even with many changes, challenges, and distractions we are still excited to see how the Lord is going to continue moving in a mighty and powerful way. We are believing for even more victories in 2013 than ever before!
Thank you all for the continued prayer and support that so many of you have faithfully given on this ministries’ behalf over the years, we value each and every one of you!
